The AirPods Pro was launched on 28 October 2019 since then it has been the talk of tech-town.Is it really everything that Apple claims it to be or is it just an overpriced Airpod in a new design? Stay tuned to find out.

What’s new?
Here are some new features in AirPods Pro which are not seen in the previous models:
- Active noise cancellation technology.
- New in-ear design.
- Silicone tips in 3 new sizes.
- IPX4 water and sweat resistance.
- The all new H1 chip.
- Pressure valve for comfort.
- Wider sound stage with adaptive equalization.
Appearance
The Apple AirPods Pro is slightly wider at the front to accommodate the silicone tips which comes in three sizes. This design provides more comfort, fit and complements the noise cancellation. Apple says the tips have been designed to conform to the contours of each individual ear, offering both comfort and a better seal, which is important for noise cancellation. Due to this design the wireless case of the AirPods Pro is wider than the previous series.

The AirPods Pro comes with a new ventilation shaft which helps in equalizing the pressure and provides greater comfort to the person using them. Apple says that AirPods Pro are designed to make you feel like there’s nothing in your ears. Much to the disappointment of most users the Airpods series are only available in White colour.
Sound Quality
Apple says that “AirPods Pro include an Adaptive Equalization feature for superior sound quality. Adaptive EQ tunes the low and mid frequencies of the music to the shape of an individual’s ear for a “rich, immersive listening experience.” A super efficient high dynamic range amplifier produces pure, incredibly clear sound while also extending battery life.

Active noise cancellation and Transparency mode
The noise cancellation in the AirPods Pro makes use of two microphones and Apple’s advanced software algorithm to adapt to each individual’s ear.

One microphone is directed outwards to detected external sounds and helps in analyzing the environmental noise. The second microphone which is directed inwards helps in detecting the in ear sounds.
The first microphone lets the AirPods Pro counter external sound with anti-noise that cancels out background noise before it reaches the ear, while the second microphone fine tunes the noise cancellation by detecting any remaining noise.
Apple knowing that the active noise cancellation could be worrying for certain customers also included a Transparent mode which enables the users to listen to the external sounds just by pressing the force sensor button. This way the users could hear important external sounds such as train announcements, traffic all without removing the AirPods. The modes can be easily switched by means of the force sensor.

The H1 chip in the AirPods Pro powers the Active noise cancellation and adaptive EQ and supports the “Hey Siri” requests.
AirPods Pro also work with Audio Sharing, an iOS 13 feature that lets multiple AirPods or Beats headphones connect to a single iOS device so more than one person can listen to the same music, watch the same movie, and more.
Audio Sharing is limited to the iPhone 8 and later, the iPad Air and later, the 5th-generation iPad and later, the 5th-generation iPad mini, all iPad Pro models, and the 7th-generation iPod touch.
Battery Life
If the noise cancellation is turned off the Airpods Pro lasts up to 5 hours and when the noise cancellation is On it offers 4.5 hours of listening time.
The Wireless Charging Case offers more than 24 hours of listening time and over 18 hours of listening time. There’s a fast charging feature that provides one hour of listening time or about an hour of talk time after five minutes of charging.
Charging the Wireless Charging Case can be done using a Qi-based wireless charging mat or through the included Lightning port. Apple ships the AirPods Pro with a Lightning to USB-C cable for faster charging.
